Links

One of the biggest challenges YouTube creators face is understanding which videos and links actually drive results. Most creators have no idea which video sent someone to their website, which link in their description generated a lead, or which content led to a sale.

YouTube Tracking Won't Answer the Key Questions

Just using YouTube's tracking will leave you guessing:

  • Which videos are actually driving traffic to my website?
  • Which links in my descriptions are people clicking?
  • How many leads did each video generate?
  • Which content is generating sales?
  • Should I make more videos like this one, or is it underperforming?

This lack of data makes it impossible to make confident content decisions. You might be spending time on video topics that do not convert, while neglecting the content that actually drives your business.

The Solution: Special Links from VideoStats.ai

VideoStats creates special tracking links that replace the regular links in your video descriptions. These tracked links look shorter and cleaner, but behind the scenes they capture exactly which video someone came from, then track whether that click turned into a lead or a sale.

With this data, you can:

  • See exactly how many clicks each video generates
  • Know which videos convert viewers into email subscribers
  • Track sales back to specific videos
  • Make content decisions based on real data, not guesswork

How to Create and Use VideoStats.ai Links

When you sign up for VideoStats.ai the first thing you do is convert one of your links to a tracking link and VideoStats replaces your original link with this new link. This is to show you how quick and simple the process is.

Once you've completed this simple step you're let into the main admin of VideoStats and to convert the rest of your links you go to the Links section. You can convert all or some of your video links automatically.

When you convert links for a video, VideoStats replaces your original URLs with tracked versions and updates your YouTube description in one shot. This is the fastest way to get set up.

In the Links to Update section you can see at a glance:

  • Are there any more links to convert?

  • How many links have been converted?

  • How many links have been skipped?

Tracking links for YouTube channel

If you see 0 links in unconverted links - congrats! There are no links detected by VideoStats that aren't converted (or skipped). Your job is done!

Now whenever someone clicks on a VideoStats link, we'll be able to track this for you.

And if you setup leads tracking and sales tracking then anyone who clicks your links and becomes a lead or a buyer will show in your dashboard too!

What Links are Skipped?

VideoStats automatically skips links to social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.

You can also manually choose to a skip a link if you don't want VideoStats to track it.

How to Undo Changes (and Put Your Original Links Back)

If you want to undo a change, you can click the Change History button in the top right of the Links to Update screen. You'll see information about all of the changes made to the links in your YouTube videos. Find the change you want to revers, and click to change it back. You'll have an opportunity to see what it will be changed back to before you confirm the action.

Best Practices

  • Use the Videos section first: Convert all your video links there for the fastest setup
  • Always select a video when copying: This ensures proper attribution in your analytics
  • Be consistent with UTM naming: Pick a system and stick with it
  • Check your dashboard regularly: The real value comes from reviewing which videos drive results

Understanding Your Results

Once your links are tracking, head to your Dashboard to see:

  • Clicks: How many times your links were clicked
  • Leads: How many people converted (opted in, signed up)
  • Sales: Revenue attributed to your content
  • Top Converting Videos: Which videos drive the most leads
  • Top Converting URLs: Which destination pages perform best

With this data, you can confidently decide what content to create more of and what to improve or retire.
